A lot of fan criticism of Alexander Semin has focused on a comparison of his performance to his expectations. Yes, fans argue, Semin plays better hockey than most NHL wings. But he also earns more money. He should play even better.
Well, today Tomas Fleischmann signed a four year, eighteen million dollar contract with the Florida Panthers.
Under the salary cap Semin does earn a big chunk of money, but you have to ask yourself: would you rather have Tomas Fleischmann and Stephen Weiss (7.6M combined cap hit) or Alexander Semin and Jeff Halpern (7.55)?
